In 1996 I was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. I had developed an adenocarcinoma on the head of my pancreas. I was given the option of a Whipple (surgery), chemo and radiation. I did all three. After the surgery the "doctors" gave me no chance of survival as they discovered the cancer had migrated into my lymph system. During the chemo and radiation I was introduced to Patrick Quillin's book which became my food and nutrition bible then and as it is today. I followed everything in his book. I completely changed my lifestyle. Food had a new meaning. My outlook on life changed. I went through a rebirth. My doctors thought I was nuts and only grasping at straws until my 2 year survival date arrived. Once it appeared that the cancer was gone I asked each doctor who had attended me if they would take credit for the fact I was still alive? Each one answered with an emphatic NO! But each one did tell me whatever I was doing not to stop. To this day I still follow the nutrition protocols I learned from Patrick Quillan's book! Believe me it is never too late to change your lifestyle and diet.

This book is a true testimony of hope, incentive,and fact. I have stage iv Cancer and I have adopted various regiments of my protocol that I have taken right out of your book....Beating Cancer With Nutrition.... I was diagnosed in November of 2014 with uterine cancer that had matastisiised. I went through the surgery to debulk the tumor and out lying tissue. Although from 2005 much of concepts of nutrition are great. Really helped me with narrowing down what not to eat and what to eat while helping others with cancer feel a little better. This book prompted me with questions to ask of medical team. Also packed with great menus and getting away from all those foods that have preservatives. Great book whether you are eating to beat cancer or just overall health to feel better. I have given this away and will buy another one. There’s truth to “Eat your veggies”. Valuable resource in our house!

This book has a lot of information but rambles through it all. The recipes are suspect as they call for things like Cheerios, Grapenuts, mayonnaise and lots of other ingredients that typically contain salt, sugar and other stuff.

I've done so much research that this didn't have much I haven't already read about. But for a novice, this is a good choice. His diet is very forgiving compared to other very strict vegan or vegetarian or juice-based diets prescribed for cancer. The new edition has a big cookbook in the middle which I could have done without. I also found his chart in the middle to be inconsistent. It also is back in the dark ages when recommending canola oil which has small amounts of carcinogens and other toxins in it. There is no such thing as a canola plant. That is FDA speak for 'Canada's oil'. Canada paid off the FDA to get a GRAS certification which is meaningless. In Europe, they call it what it is - rape seed. They mostly use it for animal feed over there and don't consider it a viable oil for human consumption. Also he says on one side of the chart that celtic salt is bad but on the other side, celtic salt is recommended as a condiment... I haven't listened to the CD but I did lend the book to a friend who just faced her first bout of breast cancer. She's been consuming and craving sugar like crazy. Hopefully, it will teach newbies to cancer to eliminate sugar and processed food, dairy, unhealthy non-organic proteins (not all animal protein is bad!), alcohol except for red wine if you can't do without it, smoking, etc. Also, there is a lot of information on supplements. I think this was originally written in 1993 (I don't have my copy on hand) so it really didn't appear to be that much updated from his older versions....I bought the book because he was featured in Ty Bollinger's 11-part series on cancer and he talked about music and its role in strengthening the immune system...He seems like a nice man....

This book provided additional info to all of the other books I've read on this critical subject. The most valuable single page of the whole book is on the back page which lists food categories of best, good, fair, poor, worst foods according to their nutritional "payload," anti-cancer properties, and glycemic index. I can easily check what is on the "best" list, then plan my menus with those foods. There are also sample menus to provide ideas of how to implement needed changes in diet. I'm now doing a six week try-out of the diet guidelines prior my third round of breast Ca surgery. While that is a very short test, I'm eager to see what change may happen to the size of the tumor, and will have an ultra sound just before surgery to determine that. Meanwhile, I have felt very good, with high energy, positive attitude, and peace. I plan to continue the diet post surgery. One must be willing to follow through with the anti-cancer diet for it to give full benefit, and that takes daily commitment!

I noticed some of the information is outdated so can't give this book 5 stars. However, I do applaud any physician for bucking the system and telling the truth.

After waiting months for this book, Samantha didn't disappoint!!!! Hoping this is not the end of The Rogues tale, though the ending of this book seemed to indicate maybe the Stronghold's will get a series. Either way I look forward to the next book!!!

Cayto's wolf shifter world is both brutish and warm, and ultimately a happy place I'm glad to revisit in each new book in the series.

I love this entire world so much. One of my favorite shifter mpreg series. I am in awe of the how the author managed to fit two romances into one book in a way that flowed smoothly and held true to the storyline as a whole. It was a feat that I don’t remember reading before and definitely a whole other level of impressiveness from this author. The stories themselves were absolutely wonderful but I never doubted they would be. Whenever a new book in this series comes out, I basically drop everything I’m doing to read it. They never ever disappoint.

This was a wonderful addition to the Rogue Pack series. The Strongblood pack Alpha is a fasinating character. So many facets to his personality. Hoping for another book about Elijah and Wren!!!

I seem to only read the even numbered books of this series 😂 so I am sometimes lost because either I don’t remember who they are or I never met them in the previous books that I didn’t read. I should catch up though.I love shifter stories and this one is similar enough to familiar tropes but also different enough that it makes for a fresh read. I like that the omegas here are strong. Sure, they’re still considered servient and in need of protection but I like that they learn that they can also be masters of their own destinies and decision makers in their own lives.All in all, a satisfying read! 😊

I've played acoustic guitar for just over two years. One thing I've discovered, which I never realized before, is that it is possible to buy songbooks of performers, in which the music sounds nothing like the published pieces!For Neil Young in particular, I am finding it hard to find songbooks.However, I am very glad I bought this one. To my ear, at least, using this book I can play some of his most famous songs in a way that sounds like the actual published versions.So I am very pleased with this book.

This would be perfect but for the fact that, when zoomed in, you must exit the zoomed page in order to navigate to the next page of the music. Then, of course, if you enlarge that page you have to go through the whole process again in order to get to the following page. The only upside is that they're simple little ditties that should be easy to memorize therefore making it not necessary to have to read the music at all.

Why do they not spiral bound these books?

Content very good. Poorly bound. Fell apart in a week.

I took it to Office Depot and had them cut off the original binding and spiral bind it. Cost $4. You'll use the book a whole lot more when it will lay flat so you can refer to the illustrations.

There are 4 stages to learning: Unconsciously incompetent, where you have no idea what you don't know; Consciously incompetent, where you know you have a lot to learn; Consciously competent, where you can do what you need to do, but it takes work; and Unconsciously competent, where you don't even think about the technique any more. If you're reading this, you're at least to stage two. Congratulations.This book deserves the highest praise I can give a book of instruction: it does exactly what it claims to do. But you still have to put in the work. There is no magic pill for talent. So in-depth in its analysis, I'm writing a review based only on a thorough first reading. Started With "Guitar Head's" GUITAR FRETBOARD: MEMORIZE THE FRETBOARD IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS., and currently re-reading. But THIS book builds on concepts that make memorization much easier. There were so many "light bulb" moments just reading, I know the exercises with a metronome will really help with neck knowledge. Glad I purchased this and the 24-hour method at the same time, and hope everyone finds both books as helpful as I have. Both authors have put out an excellent prodcct.

I love this author, the explanations are clear and easy to understand. I have other books on this topic, however, this is the best. I've learned so much, not only with this book but, all his books. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I haven't read the entire book yet. But I've picked up a few valuable techniques from this book. I also bought two other books so I'm all over the place with teaching myself more guitar techniques/theory.

I'm always looking for new ways to visualize the fretboard, and this one works for me. A good adjunct to basic music theory.

Don't get your hopes up too high. I'm not saying DON'T buy this book, but these are letters, and they are thus out of context, so alot of humor that is probably there is lost on us modern folk. I've run across numerous cultural references that I realize are such but am not familiar with them enough to get a laugh out of it. And I am someone well versed in cinema and TV of yesteryear, and far more knowledgeable about history and life in past America than average.Granted, you'll still find a quote or two you'll want to share with your friends for their hilarity, but, alot of the reading became arduous to me....On the other hand, you have different fingers. And since these are letters, it's easy to pick up the book, read a snippet, put it down, then continue later, without feeling like you have to go back and re-read for context. Because there is no context!It's like alot of random short stories. Or rather, parts thereof. It's like flipping around the TV and watching random bits of Marx brothers movies, at best.

I wonder how many young people today--that is, anyone younger than 50--know or enjoy Groucho Marx. A product of the Vaudevillian Age, Groucho with his brothers Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo starred in a series of memorable slapstick films in the 1930's and 1940's. It was the age of Laurel and Hardy and the Three Stooges, but Marx Brothers films--full length features--were in a class by themselves.While Zeppo never looked entirely comfortable in the quartet, Harpo and Chico were pure slapstick performers. Groucho enjoyed physical slapstick and was not above heaving a pie or sliding down a fire escape in his films, but his true talent was "verbal slapstick" and his one-liners have taken their place in American cultural history. [My personal favorite: "I would never belong to any club that would have me as a member."] After World War II Groucho's verbal dexterity made him a natural to ease into the medium of television, and he remained a celebrity of the small screen through the 1960's.This collection of letters is drawn primarily from the television years, though gratefully the full correspondence [undated, in the text] between Marx and the legal department of Warner Brothers is retained in full. Warner Brothers contended that the Marx Brothers' proposed film, "A Night in Casablanca" was an impingement upon the studio's film, "Casablanca," made famous five years earlier by the performances of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. An outraged Groucho put pen to paper alleging that Warner Brothers' claim to exclusive rights to the name of the city of Casablanca was overreaching. By the end of the first letter he had outrageously undermined the rights of Harry and Jack Warner to their own names, pointing out to Jack that another Jack, Jack the Ripper, "cut quite a figure in his day." [15]However, the Warner Brothers correspondence is the highlight of what is generally a modestly humorous survey of letters, ranging from 1939 to 1966. The majority are post-1950 when Marx enjoyed success with his long-running "You Bet Your Life" TV venture. Marx shows considerable ambivalence about television. His own show required little heavy lifting and made him a fair amount of money. But Marx in his correspondence, particularly with men of letters, belittles the medium as a junkyard. His letters to aging classic actors express sympathy that television, as a rule, did not cultivate significant artistic performance. Marx was evidently a voracious reader and he worried that the children of his day were losing interest in books because of the popularity of television.Marx does not write much, if anything, about his wives. The reader is left to his or her own devices to figure out the makeup of the Marx household from year to year. He has Jerry Seinfeld's eye for the humor of daily life, such as misadventures with repairmen and large companies. He seemed to have enduring problems with the IRS, which crop up incessantly in the texts. He maintained good relations in writing with all his brothers. Harpo, in particular, was a fair writer in his own right. Curiously, Groucho, with his eternal leer and infamous double entendres on film and TV, reveals a bit of a prudish side in his letters. The writer who hoped to do a film with Mae West "if she doesn't die from curvature of the bed" [168] expresses in other letters his disgust over Broadway plays that have crossed the line of good taste into crudity and vulgarity. The moral boundaries of the noted wit are somewhat amorphous, to say the least.In his preface to the collection, Arthur Sheekman compares Groucho Marx to Falstaff as "the cause of wit in other men." This is remarkably on target. One of the strengths of this work is the inclusion of letters written to Groucho. Throughout the wide range of correspondences with actors, writers, politicians and the like, one sees a tendency in Marx's correspondents to slip into "Groucho-ese" so to speak, a wit mixed with attention to detail and mild self-deprecation. The sheer breadth of correspondents from the higher echelons of show business--George S. Kaufman, Abe Burrows, Irving Berlin, David Susskind, S.J. Perlman, Arthur Sheekman, Leo Rosten, to cite but a few--give evidence of the old saying that the entertainment world is indeed a small town.It speaks well of Marx's way with words that the book is an amusing read despite its being dated and peopled from several generations past. It is too eccentric to be called a genuine history, but it serves as an entertaining timepiece for an era when an aging actor could captivate the nation's television viewing audience with no props but a good cigar and a dagger wit.

If you are a Groucho fan, this book is for you. Seeing his writings validated his onscreen personality. Brilliant and witty. He was extremely articulate when writing. It is a very entertaining book and you can pick and choose letters based on where your interests lie and who you find interesting as a correspondent. A fun book for Groucho fans.

Groucho has said and written some pretty hilarious stuff, but this book also includes serious and sad and sometimes downright puzzling letters. I think some if the letters should have been explained. I don't know anything about "show business" and even less about screenwriters and other behind-the-scenes people. Letters addressed to them or referring to them are meaningless to me and somewhat boring. If this collection had been categorized and explained in advance a little I think I would have enjoyed it more. But I do recommend it to anyone who wants to learn the deeper side of Groucho Marx.

If you love the backhanded comments of Groucho that you grew to love from the Marx Brothers comedies, you will LOVE this book. There are letters that he wrote to attorneys that were going to sue him and Groucho would respond to them and have the attorneys so confused they weren't sure how to respond back. It is so hilarious to read some of these letters that were only written from his humor and common sense. There are also touching letters to his brothers. I highly recommend this book for some good stomach laughs and just pure fun!!
