Because Amazon merged my review to 2nd edition's page (dont you just hate that?) I have to specify: THIS IS FOR THE FIRST EDITION...This excellent book, in fact, probably the best book on the sports business I've read (which is about 12-15 for some perspective). My only wish is that the text would be updated but with post the year 2000 data and statistics. In this book many of authors cite that the NBA is the most financially successful league, obviously correct if your looking at the numbers from the 90's (as I write this, March 2010, the NBA is $400 million in the RED). Finally a text explains the why and how it came to be sports franchise owners and their leagues can legally get away with violating just about every antitrust statute; there is even a real world example of mezzanine finance included in this book. Some discussion about the issues regarding sports accoutning, but not enough in my opinion. This book has just almost everything you NEED to know about pro and even semi-pro sports, along with their respective histories. Not as in depth as a compendium but not as superficial as a survey, written and put together in a traditional "review" style text. Several authors several topics taken from their previous works contribute to this text, making some of the articles biased where others are pretty neutral towards the subject matter. Mostly it reads relatively dry and slightly academic, but with the amount of detail and research analyzed, its ok w/me; this book is not meant to be a "pop-economics" text.5 stars for detail, accuracy, relevancy...its easy to overlook its outdated data when a)you can do your own contemporaneous data research and supposition and b)see beginning of sentence. Also, its very nice for the price.NOTE: One last thing, this book does not concern itself with sports torts or player contracts/representation laws.

Great read! I'm currently a student in the SMBA program at San Diego State University and I had to read this for Sports Law class, which ironically was also taught by the author himself, Scott Rosner. This is a comprehensive look at the various focal points of business of sports along with some historical perspective, which really made the read enjoyable especially if you're interested in this subject!Definitely a must read for anybody who is looking to get more background information into the world of sports business.

each chapter contains articles that are easy to read and specific to the chpater theme. Can read in short periods of time or as a book

Great book, I have used it a lot!

I will keep this book for future reference. It saved me a lot of money.

This book is exactly what I asked for and provides a solid overview of real-world sports business knowledge, problems, and solutions. It contains real examples and excerpts from other publications, and is a valuable resource to those seeking sports business expertise.

The best sports marketing book I've read so far. A lot of useful references, with great analysis & detailed studies. Highly recommended!

I had to get this book for my grad school sports finance course. Had alot of interesting info. for sports marketing/finance topics.. good book to have as reference for those looking to get into sports marketing careers.

This review is for the Audible version..not the actual book. I have not finished the book, I bought the audible version and the narrator is horrible. I wish I would have sampled it before I bought it. He has distracting unnatural pauses in the middle of EVERY sentence. He also does every character the same so I can't tell when one stops talking and the other answers. Terrible performance. I can't believe I paid almost $2 for it. That bad! I wanted to listen to this on a car ride but I will just have to read the book in my little free time.

I have the Robin Buss translation of THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO in paperback, but that copy was old and worn. I wanted a more durable hardcover edition to read and to display on my bookshelf in my new house. The hardcover I bought from Total Books arrived in near-perfect condition, exactly as advertised, and looks gorgeous on the shelf. Why Robin Buss' translation for Penguin Classics? That's a reasonable question since Alexandre Dumas has been dead long enough for his works to enter the public domain. Several translations of his major novels are not only available in cheaper editions (such as Barnes & Noble Classics), but for free on Project Gutenberg. These are inferior and, in the case of THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, censored translations. Most of them date back to the Victorian period, and render Dumas' evergreen French into English prose that feels old-fashioned and stilted today. Furthermore, because these are translations from the Victorian period, the translators filtered Dumas through their own moral sensibilities to give us Bowdlerized versions of a novel that ran on sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll a century before rock 'n roll was something you could do without a machine gun.Robin Buss' unabridged translation comes directly from the original French and renders Dumas into fresh, readable modern English. Material previously omitted by Victorian-era translators such as Franz' hashish-fueled sexual fantasies and the strongly implied lesbian relationship between Eugenie and Louise remain intact and uncensored. As another reviewer pointed out, Buss will provide footnotes to explain subtleties that aren't easily translated from French to English, such as insults delivered by using the formal you (vous) rather than the informal/friendly/intimate you (tu).A detailed appendix provides valuable historical and cultural context that aids the reader in understanding Dumas' masterpiece, and includes a primer on the rise, fall, return, and final downfall of Napoleon Bonaparte that is crucial to making sense of the politics driving the novel's plot.If you cannot read Dumas in his native French, and you want a definitive English version, Robin Buss's unabridged and uncensored modern English translation is essential reading. No other translation will suffice.

This is my favorite novel, a story not only of persecution and vengeance, but of man's relation to his God and how it drives, inspires and interferes with his judgements. Often adapted to film, nobody has captured the depth of Dumas' perceptions and understanding of people, largely because filmmakers focus on the excellently-told action rather the true essence of the story. This is one man's battle against himself, beautifully articulated egardless of which translation from French you choose to read. If you've not read Dumas before, be aware that he sets up his characters and circumstances, creating mysteries, then departs from his main story line to pursue secondary characters. All the threads pull together by the end of the story, but through at least a third of the book, Edmund Dantes is only peripherally present. Don't be discouraged - it's worth the wait, as the resolution is one of the most moving I've encountered in literature. A brilliant book by one of history's most original writers and creators of great heroes.

I love this book. It is a masterpiece of writing and I wanted a copy I could read any time I wanted. However, the Kindle edition has so many errors that it is unreadable. Every page has words running together, and it makes for a huge headache to get through even 2 pages. I couldn't read it due to these issues. I'm very glad I only spent $1.99 on it, but I wish I had spent nothing. A very poorly edited kindle edition.

It's a classic for a reason. I can hardly put it down.

I like to break away from my computer from time to time and use a hard copy dictionary. This one is a winner. Lots of great words and definitions. The Thesaurus is complete and helpful.

I bought this Oxford Paperback Dictionary & Thesaurus for my wife to use when she works crossword puzzles and in her reading. She has her old Webster's New World Dictionary from her college days but it is big and heavy. I thought this paperback would be handier for her to use.It has been as disappointment with many common words not in it. She still uses her old heavy Websters from the 70's. So be aware that this dictionary and thesaurus may be OK for limited duty use but not for regular main line use.

This book seems to be good; however, the print is exceedingly small. I think I will need to purchase a reading magnifying glass with a light as this book’s counterpart.

I've been through 18 dictionaries in the past four decades, but this new Oxford American Dictionary and Thesaurus is by far the easiest to read and a delight to use. The definitions are succinct and easy to understand. The thesaurus is not only a good way to find a useful alternative word, it also helps illuminate the defined word. I like it so well that I've bought a total of ten copies so far and gave them to my writer friends and several students. So, yes, I highly recommend this dictionary/thesaurus.

I don't know why I waited so long to purchase this. I had it in my cart for about six months. I purchased a "Desk" edition for someone I study the Bible with. I was highly impressed with it and decided to get myself this larger edition. I don't think I could be more pleased. I wish I didn't put off this purchase.

My 5th grade tutoring client adores this combo dictionary/thesaurus. It's easy for him to locate words and the font size is not too small. So handy to have both resources for words right in the same place! I put the larger version on my wish list for myself.

Unbelievable! This dictionary is absolutely amazing! I did order the packet dictionary as well since this one is way too big for my 5th grader. He uses both of them now and loves how simple they are to use, yet full of information. This one is a winner!!!

Very useful as I thought it would be. perhaps a bit staid , thought their might have been more in it somehow being an oxford dictionary and thesaurus! Perhaps I should have gone more for the Thesaurus. As to the dictionary itself. I needed an up to date one but when I came to look certain words up in it, they weren't there. Admittedly ,some of them were of foreign extraction, but I thought the Oxford contained everything! How wrong was I. from what I remembered this was the case? obviously as a paperback version, contents massively cut back! great shame.

Wow I am shocked at how well this is rated. There is so much fan fiction that is better written. The writing is trite and cliched. The author needs new words, I lost count how many times the word "badass" and "hottie" were used. Even the plot manages to be so painfully predictable. Her attempt at writing a "badass" female character is rather insulting. Not only is the Bri a special Celestial (the rarest of the fallen), she's touched by all four arch angels, and Lucifer, and there's a prophecy about her and she has a special weapon that talks to her that that is so rare it's possibly the only one on earth. Yet she acts like a petulant tween, acting out to show she's "badass".The romance (and this is what the book attempts to hinge on) is terrible. I've read many stories of two characters that are opposites become attracted to each other. This one doesn't work. It tells and doesn't show. The main characters inner monologue basically goes from oh he's such a dick and I hate him, to oh he's so hot why do I feel this? Oh, I feel bad about his tragic past (because of course he has one) To oh I'm so in love with him.Cliches are abound. It's bad when you can finish the author's sentences before you read them. Also, Here's an example of the writing: "Lincoln Grey lit a fire within me. I wasn't sure if it was a good one or a bad one, but I was engulfed in the heat nonetheless."I rarely write reviews, but I'm just mind boggled that this was at the top of Amazons best sellers when I bought this book. I guess the only thing going for it is that it's hard to put the book down, like watching a train crash and burn.

OMG Leia Stone has done it again!!! I am so glad I ordered this book as it is seriously freaking fantastic! Everything she writes is... but WOW! Set in Los Angeles (one no longer like we know it) you have an epic battle of good vs. evil and the best cast of characters ever!!!!Brielle will steal your heart and you will want to be a part of her team! Shea is the most epic BFF ever. Lincoln will grow on you and everyone else is just as good.Tons of excitement, suspense as to wtf is going on and really just an epic read!! It has it all people... Angels, demons, shifters, mages, and the list goes on... everything you could want in a book! Read it! I promise you will not be disappointed... but you will be sad year 2 isn’t out yet! LOL

The war between Heaven and Hell comes to Earth or more particular Los Angeles and the results of the battles between Angels and Hell's minions has consequences on us poor mortals. Those consequences result in humans developing gifts from both factions which are neither good nor evil.In Fallen Academy Leia has developed a world where Hogwarts meets Professor X's School for Mutants. The one catch is that there are two of these schools. One created by the Angels and the other created by the Demons. This story has everything you have come to know and love from Leia's works. Strong independent female lead plus a gripping story of love, sacrifice, and loyalty. A must read if there has ever been one.

So, I'm a die hard Leia Stone fan. I've read every one of her books. And, I thought Dream Wars was her best work.Until I read Fallen Academy.Wow... So, I'd put Fallen Academy tied with Dream Wars. It was so good. This is Brielle's first year and she's sent to the school she's not anticipating. And, we get to learn all about her and her awesome guardians, fun best friend and her trusty sidekick, Sera. Ummm, Sera is me. She says stuff that I'd totally say and it's a fun time listening to her blade. No for real, Sera is her blade.*sighs* I can see you don't believe me on her blade name. You know what this means? You'll need to read the book. It's so good. It's great paced, good world building, great angst between her and her other half. It fun to read and never a dull moment. You'll open the first page and before you know it... you're readingTo be continued...And you'll be frantically screaming inside that surely it's a joke, that's there's more and you realize... that there really isn't more, but you know what? That's ok because...Book 2 is out in 2 months! And, that is doable. Waiting a year? Shoot me now. 2 months? Doable. Especially since she has Dream wars out. Which if you haven't read that, you must buy it. There are two of three books of that out!

When I first found out Leia's new book was about angels and demons, I was a smidge uncertain. It is usually such a crowded genre without many variations. I don't even know why I worried-even slightly. (Forgive me Leia!) It was truly amazing, as is EVERYTHING she does. And honestly, every single book she does is better than her last. Fallen Academy: Year One seriously takes the cake. I neglected absolutely everything I was supposed to be doing to read this all in one sitting because I could. not. put. it. down. SO creative, SO interesting and such a great storyline with a twist on the genre. It is unlike anything I have read before. I love the main character Brielle, she is snarky, brazen and all around awesome. Lincoln is a grade A jerk but I love him anyway! Do not hesitate to read this! Hit 'One Click', do it! You won't be sorry.

Having had a few days to reflect on it and collect my thoughts, I am still of two minds regarding Oathbringer, the 3rd massive tome of Brandon Sanderson's epic Stormlight Archive. There is a significant change of focus here, both in terms of characters and storytelling, and while parts of it worked very well for me - extraordinarily well, in fact - others fell flat or just felt tedious. For starters, this volume belongs to Dalinar and Shallan, resigning Kaladin (my favorite character from the first two books) to the background. In Dalinar's case, it turned out to be a surprisingly rewarding change, with extended flashback chapters that expose his darker, far more violent past, and which shed new light on his actions and attitudes over the first two books. We come to see him in an entirely new light, with a contrast between personalities so jarring that it's often painful to watch. Part of that is due to the presence of his wife, a woman whose name and face have been a gaping hole in his memories for so long, and part of that hinges on his pursuit of The Thrill, which made something of a monster of the man. Outside those flashbacks, his story is rather slow, full of politics and philosophical discussions that really weigh down the first half of the book, but they do lead us to some incredible revelations regarding the magic and mythology of the Desolation, the Voidbringers, the Heralds, Honorblades, spren, and more.In Shallan's case, while we get a lot more action and some genuine character development, I found her to be a rather tiresome character. It's a shame, because there is so much potential within her, especially with how her various roles and guises begin to bleed through to one another. Her personality just rubs me the wrong way, and even scenes that should be sweet or amusing come across as bland tripe. It doesn't help that a significant aspect of her character arc is completely undone in this volume, a revelation that I guess we should have seen coming, but which struck me as a cheap way of restoring conflict to her role. It's much-needed conflict, and does make her a little more interesting, but not enough to justify her page count. The only redeeming grace is her spren, Pattern, who never ceases to trigger my amusement and curiosity.Although it is Dalinar and Shallan who dominate the novel, I would also argue this is a story of minor characters taking on major significance. It's hard to talk about that significance without spoiling any aspects of the story, but characters like Renarin, Moash, and others get a chance to shine, and what happens to or around them is sometimes the most fascinating part of the story. Bridge Four has an important role to play here once again as well, but - for me, at least - their scenes just emphasize how far Kaladin is from the center of the story this time out.Oathbringer marks a lull in the series, but it's an important lull. As much as we may chafe against the pacing and the character point of views, we finally get answers . . . and we get a lot of them. So much of what was hidden or hinted at in the first two books is exposed here. We get answers, we get mythology, and we finally get some wider sense of world-building. It is here that the story begins to move away from the epic saga of ruling dynasty, and into the epic saga of a world on the brink of extinction. Having said all that, the last arc of the book is vintage Sanderson and well worth sticking around for. All the book's flaws are forgiven as all the threads come together and we realize, in hindsight, just how and why so many little things were significant. The final three-hundred pages (a novel on its own for most authors) are all climax, and they are some of the finest that Sanderson has ever written. So, not a perfect book, and probably the first time I really noticed the page count in a negative way, but I'm glad I had the time to linger over it, take my time, and digest it along the way. And, of course, I remain just as excited for the next installment.

Sanderson has fallen into the same trap Robert Jordan did: epic fantasy isn't epic because it's long; it's epic because it's intricate, beautiful, and can't be told as a smaller version without losing depth. Unfortunately, this one doesn't meet that criteria. Nearly 1/3rd of this book could have easily been cut without losing any feeling, plot lines, character depth, or world realism. Things would have moved along much nicer, and, quite frankly, it would have been more enjoyable to read.I'm all for description. I don't have any problem whatsoever with a slow plot line...when there's a reason for one. The only reason for one in this particular story was to fit the popular meaning for "epic".Sorry. I love the series and the concept. Write to tell. Write to share. Don't write to fill paper.

Sanderson is one of my favorite writers. Oathbringer was long awaited and I bought is as soon as it became available. I finished it today. There is quite a time lapse between the date of the purchase and today, which is the main reason for my three stars: it took me months to reach the 50% mark and just days to read through the other 50%. The second half of the book exceeded my expectations by far, it is perfect. The first half though, I could have done without. 'Unite them!' Yes, I got that the first time I read it. I typically give each book I am reading 50 to 100 pages before I put is aside because I don't like the style, the plot, the characters or find it simply boring. As it was written by Sanderson, I trudged on ... and on ... until I hit the aforementioned 50%. In short, if I had started on page 500, I would have given the book its five stars. For me, a very disappointing experience.

After having read this book, I needed to let it sit for a couple of days before attempting to write a review. It was just so much! On the one hand I must say that I loved this book. I preordered it months and months ago, and felt like a child at Christmas when it was finally delivered to my phone. Sleeping, working and basically doing anything other than just reading became a bother. Still, having finished I have some mixed feelings. Although we really had some nice plot and character developments it did not quite measure up. In a way a lot of it seemed a bit shallow (don’t kill me) for instance kaladin was a bit forgotten in this book, he was almost degraded to a side character. Shallan had some interesting reveals at the end of last book, but we did not really get a continuation on that, and her development through the book also seemed not quite enough. On the other hand Dalinar was nicely fleshed out, and became more nuanced, but at the same time I was not that lost in his story. You also had a lot of chapters dedicated to side character, and although adding to the overall plot, failed to drag me in. In a way this book might serve as a filler book, starting several threads that will become important in later books. It is supposed to be a 10? Piece series, so I definitely see the need. I also don't quite know how to feel about the crossover from the book warbreaker, since they have different magic systems, and I generally like my books to stay separate. I will not say anything more of that since I don't do spoilers. That said, this is still one of my favorite series at the time being, and I’m a dedicated fan that will definitely continue reading. Even if there was in my opinion some flaws, the level of writing and storytelling is FAR above most other fantasy currently on the market. Also the ending was quite satisfying so thumbs up for that!

The Buddhist Literature of Ancient Gandhara: An Introduction with Selected Translations (Classics of Indian Buddhism)

Review

“This wonderful book provides tantalizing glimpses of a forgotten Buddhist civilization, one that flourished at the geographical crossroads of Indian, Persian, Hellenistic, and Central Asian cultures around the time of Christ. A world rich in religious devotion, human conflict, and philosophical reflection emerges as though by magic from the meticulous reading by a dedicated group of scholars of fragile textual fragments written on birchbark. The book not only introduces us to ancient Gandhara but also enriches our understanding of the complex currents of ideas that formed the diverse Buddhist traditions of India, Central Asia, and China.” (Stephen Batchelor, author of After Buddhism)"Every now and then, the adventure of scholarship leaps from the pages of a book. With a detective’s eye and a storyteller’s pen, Professor Salomon shares a scholar’s delight in these Silk Road texts and contexts." (Hozan Alan Senauke, Berkeley Zen Center)“This book opens a window on an early phase of Buddhist literary history that only a century ago seemed lost forever. It is a testament to the indefatigable efforts of a small band of scholars, led by Richard Salomon himself, who have toiled to make this precious material accessible to us. Working with fragile and often fragmentary manuscripts written in a nearly lost language, these scholars have been able to reconstruct an astonishingly detailed picture of the Gandhari Buddhist literary culture that once flourished in a region now corresponding to northern Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan. The texts of Gandhari Buddhism presented in this work strikingly demonstrate the essential unity of the early Buddhist tradition even across widely separated geographical regions.” (Bhikkhu Bodhi, author of In the Buddha’s Words)“The recent discovery of hundreds of Buddhist manuscripts in Pakistan and Afghanistan, written in the ancient Gandhari language, has revolutionized our understanding of the early history of Buddhism. In this remarkable book Richard Salomon gives the reader a glimpse into a lost world of Buddhist thought and practice, in which the Theravada was only one of many Buddhist schools, each of which composed and transmitted its own version of the Buddha’s words. This work makes available several previously unknown Buddhist texts, as well as new versions of scriptures known only in Pali.”             “The author has been a pioneer in the decipherment and translation of these previously unknown scriptures. Until now the study of Gandhari texts has been a highly technical field accessible only to specialists, but here Salomon makes the fruits of more than two decades of study accessible to general readers and specialists alike. This stunning achievement belongs on the bookshelf of every reader who is interested in the history of Buddhism.” (Jan Nattier, author of A Few Good Men: The Bodhisattva Path according to “The Inquiry of Ugra”)

This book is an overview of the fascinating work that has been done over decades by a team of scholars, led by the author, on recovering and deciphering the most ancient Buddhist texts to have been discovered to date--fragile birch-bark and palm leaf manuscripts buried in jars 1900-2200 years ago in what is now NW Pakistan and N Afghanistan. Salomon discusses the history and culture of the area where these texts originated--ancient Gandhara, a prosperous and multi-ethnic kingdom centered in present day Peshawar, the Indian vernacular they were written in, and its unique script (Karoshti). The book shows us the immense challenges faced by the researchers in deciphering and literally piecing together these texts, most of them in fragmentary condition, reminiscent of the Cairo Genizah and the Dead Sea scrolls. We are given annotated translations of a variety of these texts, dating from a period of Buddhism before the development of the Mahayana-Hinayana distinction. They range from moral maxims, homilies, and lives of the Buddhas, to more technical/philosophical subjects. Any student of Buddhism and its history should find this book extremely interesting.

Convenient collection of the highlights of the oldest texts in Buddhism. Absorbing literary, historical, and philosophical portion of the still-hazy picture of Historic Buddhism. F

Caveat: I’ve noticed that Amazon book reviews seem not to be tied to a specific edition of a book; rather, the same reviews will often appear for every edition of a particular title. My complaints about this book apply only to the specific edition I got from Amazon, not to Einstein’s text in general. The edition I have lacks any publication information apart from the fact that it was printed in San Bernardino, CA, on 15 July 2014. Other than that, there is nothing anywhere in the book that identifies the publisher. The ISBN is 9781619491502, and a quick Google search reveals that the publisher is “Empire Books,” though the publisher’s name appears nowhere on or in the book itself (and frankly, I don’t blame them for not wanting to take credit for this mess). Nonetheless, it is the edition with a drawing of Einstein’s face on the cover, with the title above the drawing and the subtitle and author’s name below it.Einstein’s monograph on the theory of relativity is simply brilliant, of course, and I wouldn’t presume to critique his work. But “Empire Books,” or whatever fly-by-night publisher was responsible for this particular edition of the book, was inexcusably negligent. The edition that I got from Amazon is simply riddled with typographical and formatting errors, which in some places are so bad that they make it difficult to follow the text. I know nothing about who is behind “Empire Books,” but I strongly suspect that some clever young entrepreneur with access to a printing press thought that an easy way to make a quick buck would be to print and sell new editions of books that were in the public domain. I have no problem with this business model in principle — I might even consider doing it myself if I owned a printing press. My complaint is with the poor quality control. If you’re going to go into the publishing business, in my opinion, you have an obligation to your customers to make sure that the books you print are properly formatted and have been proofread at least well enough to catch glaring mistakes. You can’t just download a text file from Project Gutenberg or some similar site and print it out as is, never even bothering to check it for errors. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this edition of Einstein’s excellent book to anyone. Find one from a more reliable publisher.

This book is a ripoff, don't buy it! The "publisher", Methuem & Co. Ltd., downloaded some public domain copy of Einstein's early works and printed it as is, without any corrections or editing. It's an easy way to make money but of little value to the reader. In the "book" the equations that appear in the text were typed in, without subscripts and super scripts. Some of highlighted equations were also typed in with a typewriter. The photo on the front cover is distorted and uncorrected. There are typing mistakes, spelling mistakes, and editing mistakes throughout the document. Instead of a table of contents there is a listing of the various sections of Einstein's writings. There are no chapter numbers or page numbers! And of course no index. In reading this document it appears that this is a collection of Einstein's early notes and essays that were never sent to a publisher. Save your money and find a properly published copy of Einstein's works.

This book published by Ancient Wisdom Publications (December 17, 2010), has not been proof-read by anyone with knowledge of mathematics. It is riddled with errors and typos in equations throughout the entire book such that it is useless for anyone who wishes to understand the subject. I was able to correct many of the math errors through my own derivations, but there are many more likely errors for which the context does not provide sufficient information to make corrections, so this book should not be purchased by anyone.

You would think, for the sake of credibility alone, that a publisher would familiarize themselves with the work they are publishing. First, a synopsis on the back of the volume states that Einstein was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work on relativity; he was, however, awarded the prize for his work on the photoelectric effect, NOT relativity. Second, the description of the book's content on Amazon follows Einstein's preface where he states "...are interested in the theory, but are not conversant with the mathematical apparatus of theoretical physics." They neglected to include the following "...presumes a standard education to that of a university matriculation examination." I had two semesters of college calculus and, believe me, I would otherwise have been at a serious disadvantage in any effort to grasp even a cursory understanding the book's content.

After reading Walter Isaacson's brilliant biography, "Einstein" and finally coming away with an understanding of Einstein's theories, I felt I could make the leap and actually attempt to read something written by the most famous genius of the twentieth century whose theories would transform science and the world.I chose Einstein's, "Relativity: The Special and General Theory." The book was written by Einstein so that the average person, who was not a physicist or mathematician, but was interested in his "theory of relativity" could easily understand it in layman's terms. Well, except for the portions of the book that used mundane objects such as a train, an embankment, Times Square or a clock to describe the most famous theory of all time, the rest of the book (a good 60 percent) was incomprehensible to me. It could have just as well been written in Latin.I strongly recommend that unless you have a scientific background, you should not start off by reading this book if you are at all interested in understanding the mind and theories of this, undeniable, genius. I recommend the Isaacson's book I mentioned above as a good starting point. Not to be deter, I will nevertheless continue my interest in physics and when I have the time and patience I will start reading books about Galileo and Newton's theories, so much seems to have originated from their work. They are constantly mentioned throughout by Einstein.I
